«Nur Astana» Islamic Center

The construction represents a sample of oriental culture grace. Four minarets, each 62 meters in height crown the mosque. The domes are gilded. Eight frameworks supporting the dome skillfully decorate not only ornament patterns but also stamped out suras. Inside there is a large hall where 5 000 people can pray simultaneously. On the second floor there is a balcony which can admit 2 000 women for the prayer. The territory of the mosque is approximately 4 000 square metres. The building of the mosque was over in 2005.

The oriental grace is skillfully interlaced with the elegancy of glass, concrete, steel and granite. The center includes a mosque, a madrasah, an imam's house, and an open yard with the fountains. The project belongs to Lebanon architect Charles Khazif. The centre is built as a gift for the people of Kazakhstan from Qatar.
