The horseman’s height makes up 7 metres and the height of pedestal - 6 metres. Total weight is 10 tons. The sculptor is Nurlan Dalbay, the architect is Shota Valikhanov. The monument was unveiled on May 10.2001.
Kenesary Kasymov (1802 - 1847) was the grandson of the legendary Kazakh khan Abylay - the last Kazakh khan who led the greatest national-liberation movement in Kazakhstan in 1837 -1847.

It was the longest and the greatest national rebellion in Kazakhstan in the 19th century. It was based on the resentment with the rapidly increasing land colonization, consolidation and expansion of the military border lines and declining living space of nomads.
